Mimosa Beetlebite
Character Traits
A bright‑eyed Halfling with an accordion slung across her back, Mimosa radiates good‑natured curiosity. She is Neutral Good to the marrow: eager to help, quick to smile, and prone to leaping before the sensible part of her brain catches up. Raised among honest folk, she assumes the best of strangers—sometimes to her peril. Adventure beckons on several fronts: a longing to chronicle dazzling cultures in song; a desire to prove that halflings can be as mighty as any race; and an abiding devotion to uplift her big, bustling family back home.
Background
Mimosa hails from Frostwheat, a livestock town half a day from vibrant Jimbasa. Her mother, Stella Beetlebite, and father, Guinness Quickmouse, function as de‑facto leaders, steering community affairs alongside Mimosa’s five siblings—Cosmo, Tom Collins, Margarita, Paloma, and Rickey. She shared secret midnight stories with her best friend Myrtle Greencloak, devouring tales of the mythical Six Heroes (and lamenting that none were halflings).
Tom Collins soon left to start the restaurant, and would send letters to Mimosa about the restaurant’s progress, though recent letters have indicated that Tom Collins was having a tough time. Music became Mimosa’s voice; she played lively reels at the tavern, sparring musically with her friendly rival Rosie Cotton and her flute. Supply runs to Jimbasa exposed her to kaleidoscopic cultures and traveling adventurers—some courteous, some dismissive. A haughty elf named Celeborn Siastar branded Frostwheat a “halfling hovel,” igniting Mimosa’s resolve to elevate her people’s reputation.
Opportunity arrived in the form of Sylvia Greenleaf, a wandering high‑elf bard‑adventurer conducting “research” near town. Sylvia respected Mimosa’s ambitions, teaching her the foundations of bardic spellcraft and recounting mouth‑watering legends of forgotten dishes crafted from rare, “forbidden” ingredients. She also spoke of halfling heroes erased from mainstream retellings of the Unification. When urgent business called Sylvia away, she entrusted Mimosa with a small instructional notebook, a jagged green amulet shard, and a Portglassia guild‑registration flyer. “Make the ripple that precedes the wave,” she urged.
With her parents convinced she was joining a trading caravan to broaden Frostwheat’s markets, Mimosa embarked toward Portglassia—accordion in hand, heart brimming with song, determined to shape epic tales where halflings stand center stage.
